Chapter PARTICIPANT OPPORTUNITIES

First Tee – West Michigan has much more to offer to participants outside of the six class sessions. We offer exciting opportunities for growth on and off of the golf course. These opportunities allow for participants to meet new people, play some golf, achieve greatness, and show off our Nine Core Values in action.

Spring OPPORTUNITIES:

 

Caddying Opportunities

First Tee – West Michigan has partnered with local clubs caddie programs. Caddie opportunities are open to players who are committed to working and can carry a golf bag for a round of golf. More information will come available in the coming months.

Saturday Tee Times

Cascade Hills Country Club and Kent Country Club have offered our chapter open tee times on Saturday afternoons throughout the spring and summer. PLAYer and Par participants play at Cascade Hills on the South 9 and Birdie and Eagle participants play at Kent Country Club.

Junior PLayer Academy @ Cascade

A special partnership that offers our most engaged teens an opportunity to participate in the Junior Golf Academy at Cascade Hills Country Club under Director of Instruction Brandon Roby.

Summer OPPORTUNITIES:

Junior League

This league is for junior golfers 7-17 years old that are participants of First Tee OR junior golfers from the area that are looking to play competitive golf. League will take place at Indian Trail Golf Course. To sign up for league, click here.

PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. First Tee – West Michigan will field four teams in 2020. (Two Grand Rapids Area Teams, a Holland Area Team and a Muskegon Area Team.) Players will be hand picked by our coaching staff. Learn More

Youth Golf Marathon

The 5th Annual Youth Golf Marathon in June 2020! Participants who commit to playing in this event, commit to playing as many holes as they can on the event day. Players who participate are also committing to fundraising for their play that day!

Drive, chip & Putt championship

This free opportunity is open to all participants to try their hand at a competitive event. Players will compete against other players in their age bracket at a Local tournament in the area and will have an opportunity to advance through different competing levels. Fall OPPORTUNITIES:

Junior League 

This league is for junior golfers 7-17 years old that are participants of First Tee OR junior golfers from the area that are looking to play competitive golf. League will take place at Indian Trail Golf Course.

Alternate Shot Tournament

During this event, our female participants will be paired up with the Grand Valley State Women’s Golf Team and the boys will be paired up with the Calvin Men’s Golf Team to play a 9-hole alternate shot tournament. Players are chosen by our coaching staff.

Winter Opportunities:

Homework & Hitting

First Tee Homework & Hitting program was created to inspire our participants to excel socially, academically, and athletically.  Homework & Hitting is a one-of-kind program that has been recognized at a national level by First Tee. Learn More

Maple Hill Golf Course

Throughout the winter, Maple Hill has welcomed four Birdie/Eagle participants once a week to hone their golf skills in the heated hitting bays and simulators. This winter we offer this opportunity to Birdie and Eagle participants on Mondays from 4:30 pm-5:30 pm.
