2023 Golf Marathon
It’s that time of the year again! Our golf marathon season is right around the corner and we are anxious to get started.
What is Our Golf Marathon
The golf marathon is First Tee – West Michigan’s biggest fundraiser of the year! Every year, we host our marathons at both private and public courses across West Michigan, raising money for our students on scholarship so more kids & teens in West Michigan can access our program for free.
How Does it Work
Marathoners raise money by receiving pledges from their friends, family, coworkers, etc. Pledges can either come in flat donations or other incentives like number of holes played, eagles, birdies, pars, and sometimes ace’s. On the day of the marathon, golfers play as many holes they can in one day and try to raise as much money as they can depending on pledges received. For example, if a marathoner is worth $6 a hole and play 108 holes, they’ve raised $648.
Fundraising Information
We ask marathoners to raise at least $2,000. Don’t worry! We’ll help you along the way by giving you tips, best practices, and other resources to help you reach that goal. You don’t have to worry about collecting money, we’ll provide you a link you share with your network so they can pledge directly to you!

Youth Marathon

The marathons are not only for our adults. We also host a youth marathon and want our participant to get involved! We’re not asking our participants to play a crazy amount of holes or raise as much money as the adults. We want them to come out and play however many holes they can, receive at least five pledges of any amount, and most importantly, have fun! Some youth marathoners have a goal of playing 15 holes, while others want to play over 50. It is completely up to you! Here’s the best part. For every $100 raised, you’ll receive $20 credit to be used in the First Tee Store!
